Wedding details are overwhelming to say the least. After shooting numerous weddings, here are a few things I’ve learned.
The Dress
Most brides will agree that having THE dress is at the top of the priority list. Here are a few tips from a photographer's view.
1) Take someone with you that will be completely honest about how the dress looks on YOUR figure.
2) If you are allowed by the boutique, take pictures from all angles before you buy the dress.
3) Make sure you will not have to fidget all night with how it fits.
4) What I photoshop the most is the skin at the top of strapless dresses. (Also known as armpit fat and back fat.) Wedding dresses are heavy, and they have to be made tight to stay in place. No matter your size it can “squish” things.
The DJ
DJs can make or break your reception. I’ve seen them turn a rowdy college crowd boring or get the 87-year-old grandma to “cut a rug”. If your party is important to you, I suggest carefully choosing your DJ or band.
I highly recommend Immersion Multimedia. They use state of the art equipment including large screens and lasers. More importantly they are dedicated to you as a client. You can relax at your reception while the details are handled. They know how to run the show and keep your guests having a great time.
The Cake
Tara’s House of Cakes is AMAZING! I have never seen a cake match the perfection and detail of her work. They even taste as good as they look! Did I say she was amazing? I am always blown away by the art she creates. Breathtaking seems a bit dramatic for a cake, but that is the only word I can use. Here is her contact information. You WANT to call her.

The Flowers
Everyone wants pretty flowers, and everyone wants a good value. You get both with Lady Bug Designs. They will take care of all your needs.
The Hair
On your wedding day, do what your hair does best. If your hair frizzes easily and it’s raining, pinning it up will give you the best look until the end of the reception. If your hair never holds curl, you will probably be frustrated with a curly updo even before the wedding starts.
Whitney with My Salon Red knows hair. She has been featured in numerous hair magazines. She will listen to your vision and make it work with your hair. I have personally been a client for 6 years and greatly appreciate her expertise.
The most important.... Relaxing
This will probably be one of the most exciting and stressful times of your life. Enjoy the journey of the engagement. Your wedding will be beautiful, and all of the planning will pay off! Don’t forget to pamper yourself; you will only be a bride once!
